The Southside High School welding team brought the heat at “Weld Wars,” the spirited local welding showdown hosted by South Texas VoTech. Invited schools from across the region—Lytle, South San, Navarro, Del Rio, and of course Southside—went head‑to‑head in three challenging events: OxyFuel torch cutting, SMAW welding, and GMAW welding.
Under the expert guidance of Mr. Isaac Barrera, our Cardinals—Felipe Segura, Febrin Montufar, Joel Barbosa, and Joshua Cruz Aguirre—welded their way to victory, earning first‑place honors as a team. Their precision in torch cutting and flawless beadwork in both SMAW and GMAW rounds showcased not only technical skill but also the dedication and teamwork that define our program.
Huge congratulations to these talented students and Mr. Barrera for representing Southside with such pride and professionalism. You’ve set the bar high, Cardinals—way to flame out the competition!
