The Southside High School Red Jackets were one of 6 schools selected to perform a special halftime performance with the world-famous Texas State Strutters Dance Team. They danced their hearts out this past Saturday, November 4th at Bobcat Stadium where the Bobcats defeated Southern Georgia. This was a phenomenal opportunity for our Red Jackets. Be sure to check out their performance at halftime this week at the varsity playoff football game.

Southside High School Choir Members Compete at Region 11 Concert
Congratulations to Senior Erik Zamarripa, Senior Araceli Servin, and Junior Alyza Garcia. These 3 members of the Southside HS Choir represented Southside ISD in the Texas Music Educators Association’s Region 11 HS Choir this weekend at East Central High School. They competed against hundreds of students from 22 area high schools and earned a spot in the region Choir. Also chosen as alternates were Seniors Angelina Morales and Samara Ramos.
Southside High School Red Jackets Perform With “Tiny Dancers”
The Southside High School Red Jackets dance team hosted a Spring Dance Clinic where students were able to learn dances and perform at a varsity football game. The “Tiny Dancers” learned the SHS fight song and were able to welcome football players onto the field. Throughout the game, the Tiny Dancers performed side by side with the Red Jackets. “It was a wonderful feeling getting to share the magic of football season with the tiny dancers,” said Dance Coach, Natalie Long.

Southside Mighty Cardinal Band Earns “Superior” Rating at UIL Marching Contest
On Saturday, October 14th, the Southside High School Mighty Cardinal Band performed in the Region 11 UIL marching contest at DW Rutledge Stadium. We are proud to report that the band earned a rating of “1: Superior” and will advance to the area round of the marching contest. The Mighty Cardinal Band will perform again on Saturday, October 28th at 11:45 a.m. at DW Rutledge stadium!
Southside Students Selected for 2024 All-Star Football Game
Congratulations to 3 of our senior Cardinals Jeremy Obregon, Aaron Abrego, and Ruben Alaniz for being selected to play in the 2024 All-Star Football game. The San Antonio Sports Committee scouted the entire city looking for the best talent and discovered three of our very own Cardinals. Before the selection could be finalized, Coach Lock had to approve the recommendation based on the student’s character and academic performance. The All-Star game will take place on January 6, 2024 at the Alamodome. Stay tuned for more details!
