Southside High School Symphonic Band Earn Division 1 “Sweepstakes”
On March 27th, the Southside HS Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Gamez, competed at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Competition at Southwest High School. The Symphonic Band earned a Division 1 rating in both rooms earning a “Sweepstakes” honor and award (highest achievement possible). This is an incredible achievement, congratulations to the Symphonic Band!
Southside High School Varsity Wind Ensemble Earns 1st Division Rating
On Thursday, March 27th, the Southside High School Varsity Wind Ensemble band performed in UIL concert and sight reading assessment. The band earned a “1st division: superior” rating from each judge, completing the year-long quest for the varsity “sweepstakes” award (with earning the superior rating in fall 2023 marching band). Congratulations to these hard-working students!
Southside High School Culinary Arts Team Wins BIG!
Congratulations to the Southside High School Culinary Arts Team for winning 1st place at the Annual Paella Competition this weekend! They have earned a fully paid trip to New York City to visit one of the nation’s best culinary schools.
