September 6-10 is National Substitute Appreciation Week so we wanted to take a minute to recognize two of the best! Heritage is lucky enough to have two ladies that always say, “Yes,” when asked to work. Mrs. Cruz and Mrs. Reyes have been members of our team for years. Both of them are able to work in monolingual classes as well as dual language classes. They are flexible and reliable and we appreciate them. During this COVID cautious time, they still come in and work; without them, classes would have to be split amongst other teachers and their already full classes. Thank you ladies for being true professionals and for always showing up!

Cardinal Spotlight 8/30/21
This week’s Cardinal Staff Spotlight for Heritage is one of our Dual Language second grade teachers, Sanjuana Dolph. She has been a part of Southside ISD for four years and a member of the Heritage family for three of them. Ms. Dolph uses a hands-on approach to learning, encouraging her students to be creative and solve problems. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to a colleague. We are so lucky to have her as part of our team.

This week’s Student Spotlight is 5th grade student, Danniana Monroy. She is a conscientious student, always striving to do her best. Dannie enjoys cheering on her older brother at Southside High School football games and plays volleyball herself. Even though she likes to work alone, she is also happy to be part of a team, which is why she’s so well liked by her fellow classmates. Way to represent Team Heritage Dannie! |
Heritage Spotlight 8/23/21
Heritage’s Staff spotlight this week is Julie Collard. Mrs. Collard is beginning her 13th year of teaching and her 1st year at Heritage as a 2nd grade teacher. She is already setting the tone for the type of teacher and person she is. Mrs. Collard was one of the two new teachers that was quick to respond with, “Yes, I will help,” regarding the Back to School Bash; and she is one of the first teachers to arrive at school everyday. We look forward to having you on our team this year! Thank you for the difference you are already making! | |
This week’s Student Spotlight is Alicia Echeverria. Alicia is a bubbly third grade student! She has been at Heritage since she was in Kindergarten. Alicia has worked very hard over the years to learn all she can and to get along with others. We are so proud of her and we can say she’s definitely the leader this week! |

Fun Day at Heritage
Students and staff are finishing the year in a fun way. Each grade level is celebrating the end of the year and their effort on the STAAR test or End of Year tests. Students first were recognized with classroom awards then enjoyed rotating through stations consisting of dancing, arts & crafts, sidewalk chalk, beachball volleyball, and finally the moon bounce & slide. After a cool down period and lunch, students then enjoyed a movie with snacks provided by the district.
