We’re proud to be named a 2025 Honor Roll school by Educational Results Partnership, a data science organization that recognizes schools with high performance in Math and English. Sponsored by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence, the ERP Honor Roll establishes a high bar of performance using student assessment data and is a valuable resource for all schools to identify successful peers and learn about best practices that improve student success. Our Student Leaders met with our Superintendent, Mr. Rolando Ramirez, and Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Miguel Castillo. The students love sharing how the students in their classes are doing and hearing about District initiatives. But we think Mr. Ramirez and Mr. Castillo enjoy it even more based on what Mr. Ramirez shared afterwards, “It is the highlight of our day to visit the student leaders!”

A group of 5th grade students went on a 3-day/2-night field trip to Bamberger Park. This was such an exciting time for them; hands on learning, fun with friends, and even a bit of the Northern Lights!

Heritage community honored its Veterans with a special ceremony. Students led the ceremony and Student Patrols welcomed students and visitors. A retired United States Navy Veteran, Tony Botello, spoke to the students, and to the Veterans present, about why they served and also about how it’s impacted his life.

Thank you to all that have served and continue to serve, we honor you all!

Heritage teacher and students have been featured in the national magazine, Education Week, for their work in dual language instruction. Take a few minutes to read about the excellent things going on in Southside ISD, we are beyond proud!
