Cardinal Spotlight 2/5/2024
This week’s staff spotlight is Alma Gennero. Ms. Gennero is new to Heritage. She is a 2nd grade Dual Language teacher. Ms. Gennero previously worked for Southside ISD for ten years. She truly enjoys working with children. Teaching is her passion! Ms. Gennero has a strong work ethic and is very dedicated to her students. Ms. Gennero uses every available minute to work hard to help students become more successful. In her spare time, Ms. Gennero likes to read and work on arts and crafts. She is an avid Texas Longhorns fan! She has seven grown children and seventeen grandchildren. We are so happy that you joined our team. Congratulations on being our Cardinal of the Week! This week’s student spotlight is Carter Nelson. A first grade student with Ms. Oliver, he is outstanding in many ways. Very polite and mature, he enjoys reading chapter books. In fact, he estimates that he has read more than 50 this school year. With two older sisters, one older brother, and a little sister, he is able to engage with people of all ages as he is very articulate. While Carter loves Roblox, he especially enjoys soccer and basketball, which he plays with his older brother and father. Currently, Dad is his coach, but he looks forward to intramurals when he is older. Although both soccer and basketball are fun, his favorite sport is basketball and he loves the Houston Rockets. At school, Carter enjoys social studies and studying natural processes and their impact on people. Carter misses his grandfather in Houston, but we are so glad to have him here at Heritage. |

Southside ISD 5th Grade Students Visit STEAM Bamberger Ranch
Select students from each of the elementarys across Southside ISD were able to stay at the Bamberger Ranch for 2 nights and 3 days. Students were exposed to a variety of STEAM-related activities. At Bamberger Ranch, their mission is to teach ethical land stewardship by example and outreach. This was a great learning opportunity for our students and inspired them to change consumption habits and learn how to better conserve natural resources.
