Hello Freedom Families,
For the month of February we will be celebrating Black History Month, the Rodeo and Valentine’s Day! Below is a description of what we’ll be doing to celebrate.
- Black History Month: Look for activities from our teachers to honor the contributions of African Americans in our community and country.
- Rodeo: Every Wednesday we will have Western Day Wednesdays where staff and students dress up in rodeo attire such as flannel shirts, cowboy/girl hats, bandanas, and boots.
- Valentine’s Day: Students can bring bagged treats for their classmates with a Valentine’s message on Friday, February 12th. Cards and treats will be passed out at the end of the day. Please make sure there are no home baked goodies sent to school.
We also think it’s important to show our staff appreciation for all of their hard work. We have a special treat for them to “show our love” for them one day a week. For example, we provided them with the following goodies:
- “Perk Up”
- Thanks for “chipping in” – bagged chips and chocolate chips cookies
- 100 grand candy bar with a note stating that we appreciate them in 100,00 ways! There’s more to come!
- Frito Pie Friday
Each week is a surprise and we feel that the little things like this help to start their week off on a positive note. You can also show appreciation for your child’s teacher in whichever way you wish. It’s been a long year for all of us and any type of appreciation makes a HUGE difference for our teachers!
