Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we embark on another exciting school year, I want to take a moment to express my  gratitude to each of you. Your support and partnership are vital in helping us create a positive and enriching learning environment for your children, and we are so thankful for the trust you place in us.

Starting a new academic year brings with it opportunities for growth, learning, and building strong foundations for the future. We are committed to providing your child with the tools and guidance they need to thrive both academically and personally. School attendance is a crucial part of your child’s educational foundation. Frequent or chronic absenteeism can hinder your child’s development that can create large learning gaps for your child. Students who are chronically absent are less likely to be prepared for the academic and social demands of college or career environments in the future. Please communicate with school staff when your child will be absent and turn in all parent and doctor excuses. 

Thank you for the encouragement you provide at home and for being engaged in your child’s education. Whether it’s through attending school events, helping with homework, or simply showing interest in their daily experiences, your participation makes a world of difference.

Principal, Freedom Elementary 

Freedom Elementary is making wonderful gains as we move forward in the school year. We would like to highlight a few of the wonderful things we are doing here at Freedom. 

We have some amazing athletes on our Intramural teams. Our students continue on a winning streak for soccer and now basketball. Our coaches have done a fantastic job! Students must maintain passing grades, good attendance, and no behavior referrals to participate. Keep it up!  

Freedom has a sound dual language program and 5 of our students participated in the Spanish Spelling bee. Two of our 5th grade students won 1st and 3rd place. We are so proud of everyone for studying and practicing for the last few months. Way to represent Freedom and 5th grade! 

If you haven’t heard Freedom’s amazing choir you must! We have about 80 students in grades 3-5 that participate in choir. That is the largest choir I think Freedom has ever had. Our music teacher, Mr. V. does an amazing job. They perform next at the San Antonio International Airport on Dec. 7th. 

Our student leaders have been quite busy too. For Thanksgiving they collected food donations and were able to make 8 boxes of food available for any Freedom families in need. For the month of December they are collecting unwrapped toys that will go to our Freedom students. 

  Freedom’s daily attendance is slowly improving as we are getting healthier. Please be mindful our start time every day is 7:30 and tardies start at 7:35. Instruction begins immediately so please have your child here on time. We understand illness and emergencies arise, so please send in those excuses and you may always communicate with the office or classroom teacher.  

Finally, everyone in the Freedom Family would like to wish you a happy and healthy holiday season! Our winter break starts Dec.19 until Jan.2. Students return Jan. 4th. Please take time to rest and enjoy yourself. Freedom Elementary will be BACK IN ACTION and hit the ground running in January as we continue to strive for our A rating.
