Grocery giant H-E-B notified Southside ISD it was selected to participate in the H-E-B 90-second School Shopping Spree. H-E-B’s Alyssa Saucedo said, “Our vision for the event is to have the selected teacher run through the school supply aisle for 90 seconds and grab as many school supplies as they can. After the 90 seconds, they will be taken to checkout to ring out all of their school supplies.” District administrators selected Teacher of the Year, Mr. Garcia, a Losoya Middle School science teacher, for the event at the H-E-B Plus at McCreless. After a 10-second countdown, Garcia ran through the aisles, thinking about getting as much as he could for the district’s children. “I’m hoping for at least $5000! I’m hoping,” he said. When clerks finished the tally, the total Garcia gathered was $5576.46. H-E-B kindly donated all of the items to Southside ISD students. CLICK HERE TO SEE ACTUAL SHOPPING SPREE.
