Frequently Asked Questions for Southside ISD Student Dress Code and Clear Backpacks 2022-2023
Returning students should have received 3 Polos and 3 -T-shirts in red, black and white. If your child did not receive all six shirts please send an email to sisdprintshop@southsideisd.org to complete the order form for each child.
New enrolled students will receive 3 Polos and 3 T-shirts in red, black and white, at no cost if they enroll by 8/31/2022 by emailing sisdprintshop@southsideisd.org, completing the form for each child.
After 9/1/2022 shirts for all students must be purchased.
A: We believe uniforms play an important role in maintaining a culture of focused learning and positive behavior. Uniforms promote a sense of school identity and cohesion, helping to raise the standards of school academics and prepare students for success.
A: Any solid color t-shirt, polo shirt, blouse, or sweater that adheres to the student dress code in the student handbook.
A: It is not recommended, we prefer no logos or school logos (campus or district spirit shirts). But, we will accept non-school logos smaller than 3 inches.
A: Yes.
A: Any organization, person, or business needs to get permission from the SISD Communications Department or the superintendent to use the school logo. Because SISD is a government organization it is illegal for others to profit off the logo without an agreement in place.
A. Yes, SISD has an agreement with these stores and is working on an agreement with Dollar General.
A: No. You can buy school shirts anywhere. But, you can also purchase shirts from the school Print Shop by visiting http://southsideisd.org/dept/print-services/
Any bottoms that fit within the normal dress code in the student handbook are approved.
Similar to the shirt dress code students are able to wear any jacket, hoodie, sweater etc. that is in school colors and has no sponsored logo (Nike, Adidas, etc.) over 3 inches.
For the 2022 - 2023 Academic School year all SISD students can only carry clear backpacks and bags at school. This is for the safety and security of all people at SISD. We will make exceptions for athletes and some student organizations until they can find proper replacements for their equipment and instruments or we will institute bag checks.
A: No. Only one backpack per student will be provided.
A: Yes, as long as it is clear or see-through.
A: A small purse, yes.
- Clear Tote – Plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12″x6″x12″
- Plastic Storage Bag – Clear, one(1) gallon, re-sealable
- Small Clutch Purse – Approximately the size of a hand with or without a handle or strap. No larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ with or without a handle or strap. Can be carried separately or within an approved plastic bag.
An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose. Please limit the number of items you bring to the stadium on event days.
A: Yes, if we can find bags that are appropriate for use, otherwise they can use any bag that works for them, but they may be subject to security checks.
Yes. You must be able to see everything that is in the bag, be advised it is up to the discretion of the district's security and police and campus administration to deny any bags that do not meet this requirement.
