Cardinal Spotlight: April 25th
MECC hired one of our very own community members that is the front face to our campus. Ms. Meranda Zapata is one of the front office receptionists who works with our parents and keeps the office running efficiently. She pays attention to details and puts systems in place that makes everyone’s lives easier. We are thankful for everything she does and for giving back to our community. She is amazing.
Ezekial is new to MECC this year in Ms. Arocha’s class, but immediately did an amazing job of getting used to the classroom routines and expectations. He is a great listener and so smart! He loves coming to school and enjoys being around his friends. He smiles all the time and keeps us on our toes. Keep up the great work, Ezekial!
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Since 1983, April has been designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month, dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse and recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families.
The blue pinwheel was introduced as the new national symbol for child abuse prevention. Why? Because by its very nature, the pinwheel connotes playfulness, joy, and childhood. It has come to serve as a physical reminder of the great childhoods we want for all children.
Purple Up for Military Kids
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community. While military members serve around the world, we often forget the challenges faced by their children. Military families move on average every two to three years, impacting military children through changing schools and support networks.
Wear purple on April 15th to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported. Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue all are thought to combine together as a single color, purple.
