The Heritage Staff Spotlight is a new member of our team, Ms. Esmeralda Saucedo Guerrero. She is one of the 2nd grade Dual Language teachers. With 23 years of experience, we are so lucky to have her at our school. She drives very far, but says it’s all worth it because she looks forward to her days with her students. Ms. Guerrero says we have the best students! It’s probably because we have such awesome teachers like Ms. Guerrero. Whenever you see her, she is smiling and saying hello. Her students love that she works hard to be sure they learn all they need to know. Congratulations Ms. Guerrero!

This week’s Staff Spotlight is our LID teacher, Ms. Margaret Puyat. She is new to Heritage this year, but has been a part of the Southside family for five years. Ms. Puyat is a soft spoken, kind-hearted individual and her students immediately bonded with her. During the days she can be spotted in the hallways with her students, and her affection for them is evident as she guides them through doors and “traffic”. We are so happy that you joined our team! Congratulations on being our Cardinal of the week! Jonathan Cortez is a happy, active 2nd grade student new to Heritage this year. He loves video games, especially Minecraft, scary movies like Dracula, and spaghetti without meatballs. At school, he looks forward to art class as well as playing on the monkey bars. His kind heart is evident when he talks about his brother, his sister, and his dogs. It is also shown in his willingness to welcome others. Just last Friday, he saw a new student nervous on his first day. Jonathan quickly invited him to sit and to join in a game. With a ready smile and a lot of positive energy, he is a fantastic and kind addition to the Heritage community. We are so glad he is here!

This week’s staff spotlight is Carol Calderon. Ms. Calderon serves as our STEAM teacher. Ms. Calderon has a heart of gold and absolutely loves kids. On any given day, you will see Ms. Calderon dressed in a costume. She uses costumes to engage students in her instruction. Ms. Calderon is a warm, caring, and passionate educator. Ms. Calderon is the past recipient of the distinguished Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching! Congratulations on being our Cardinal of the week! |
The Student Spotlight this week is Ariela Sagredo. A sweet, talented, and caring 4th grade student at Heritage, Ariela loves animals of all kinds and appears destined to be a veterinarian. A diligent learner who always tries her best, she exemplifies the 4 B’s. She is respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. Congratulations on being our Cardinal spotlight for the week!

Cardinal Spotlight 8/8/2022
This week’s staff spotlight is Rosemary Reyes. We would like to welcome Ms. Reyes back to Heritage! Ms. Reyes worked at Menchaca for four years and has returned to Heritage to teach 1st grade. Ms. Reyes is a quiet powerhouse of a teacher, always focused on her students’ learning. She is also an awesome person to work with because she is a team player! We are so fortunate to have her on our team! Ms. Reyes, welcome back to Heritage and congratulations on being selected as our Cardinal spotlight!
Devin Nicholls is a confident, talented and kind 5th grader at Heritage. A participant in the Gifted and Talented program, his observant and inquisitive mind is evident the moment he speaks and even more so when he writes! A fabulous writer and a lover of technology, Devin works diligently and quietly, yet his sense of humor and easy-going manner charms everyone who knows him. Congratulations, Devin!

This week’s staff spotlight is assistant principal, Joey Martinez. He has been at Heritage for five years and 28 years in education. As he sings his way into retirement, we will miss his smile, positivity, and sense of humor along with his upbeat announcements over the intercom. We thank him for his years of service to the Heritage community and we wish him all the best in his retirement.
The Heritage student spotlight is 4th grade student, Adrian Ramos. This young man has worked so hard while at Heritage that he is now a bilingual student. But this is not the reason he was chosen. Rather, it is because he is kind, thoughtful, always wanting to help others, and is one of the most respectful students on our campus. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see what next year brings. Congratulations Adrian!
