Work Hard, Play Hard
The hunt was on for Freedom Elementary teachers. The hunt for Easter eggs that is! Our teachers work hard everyday to provide quality education for our students. At times we like to plan some fun staff activities that help build morale and camaraderie. Before the Easter holiday the admin team hid over 200 eggs filled with treats for our staff. It’s times like this that we see the true competitive nature of some of our staff. We sure did have a good time!
Honoring our Amazing Paraprofessionals
On April 16th we celebrated our amazing paraprofessionals. We could not be successful without them. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing group of support staff. Their dedication and commitment to our students is remarkable. Freedom Against Child Abuse
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month Mrs. Barajas, Freedom Counselor included lessons about child abuse and neglect along with daily SEL and Character Development lessons. One way we start off the conversations is with the Child Safe, Cardboard Kids. Each year Child Safe, Bexar County’s leading child abuse treatment and prevention center, sponsors the Cardboard Kid Campaign. The purpose of the Cardboard Kids is to “break the silence to end child abuse.” To increase awareness of the pervasivness of child abuse in our community. Mrs. Barajas teaches our students that all children deserve to be taken care of and not neglected. No child deserves to ever be left bruised, broken, or bleeding. Children deserve to be safe and happy. That is the message of the Cardboard kid. This is Freedom Elementary’s 4th year participating in the campaign, and even with a pandemic going on we had a tremendous participation response. Over 200 Cardboard Kids filled the halls of Freedom Elementary. There is help out there. We all need to be aware and get help to those in need.
