The Southside High School Mighty Cardinal Band inaugurates its 18-foot band trailer when it goes on the road to the Southwest Dragons game in Von Ormy. “The kids are excited to see it and it shows pride,” said band director Mr. Michael Misko. The district wrapped the trailer with a graphic design created by a student saxophone player in May 2015. However, the vehicle never got on the road as it faced multiple obstacles. Then, two years ago, Transportation Director Jesse Berlanga helped get the vehicle into running condition. Band boosters also pitched in $2500 to install ramps. Mr. Misko says about half of all high schools in San Antonio have band trailers and now Southside High School joins an elite league. “It shows that we’re a serious program and believe in professional presentation,” said the band director.
