(San Antonio, TX) – Graduating Senior Jasmine Watkins was surprised Thursday, May 12th by the parent advocacy group RootEd. The group supports public schools and raises monies for scholarships. Ms. Watkins applied for the scholarship to pay for her upcoming tuition at UTSA. She had no idea she won the scholarship until she was surprised by a group of RootEd parents. ” Oh my God!”, Watkins cried out when she saw the giant check for $1100.00 Click here for a video of her reaction. Ms. Watkins was recently featured as a Skills USA State Championship Winner and is a part of the SHS Police Explorers and active in the Southside High School Air Force Junior ROTC. She graduated this June and plans to join the FBI after graduating from college.
