San Antonio Company Provides New Desks to Students

Heritage Elementary first-grader Romani Ruiz and his younger brother, Jovani, were the first students to arrive. They knew what was about to happen was important.

The brothers are among 25 Southside ISD students who received new desks and a chair to help with online studying at home. AHI Enterprises selected Southside because company owner Mark Nolan grew up in San Antonio’s South Side and wanted to give back. “We’ve been very fortunate and I knew there was a need in the District and just thought it would go a long way,” said Mr. Nolan.

Superintendent Mr. Rolando Ramirez said providing students with a learning environment at home is critical to their academic success. “There are homes where our kids don’t have a place to sit down and do their work. So, for AHI to be able to this is absolutely wonderful. It’s a family business and you can really tell they care about kids,” Superintendent Ramirez said.

“It’s very rewarding. It’s exactly why we did this. Exactly why we did this!” Mr. Nolan said.
