Artwork by Menchaca Early Childhood Center kindergarten student Aubree Rice Gonzales will be displayed in the Rotunda of the State Capitol of Texas in March. Her picture, titled, “My Family,” is a drawing with water colors representing her family standing outside their house on a bright sunny day. The Texas Art Education Association selected artwork from students in 60 school districts. Aubree’s picture will represent Southside ISD. The campus art teacher Ms. Tyra Gonzales, no relation, has previously submitted artwork that attains statewide recognition. Aubree, her family, and her teacher will be honored in Austin during a special reception in March.
