Cardinal Spotlight Recognizes Cristian Gomez & Monica Combee
Cristian Gomez is constantly following the rules on the carpet and listening attentively to the teacher. He helps redirect his friends and is an excellent role model for other friends to follow. This is also true for when he walks in the hallway. He is always aware of his surroundings and on task. Cristian deserves the spotlight because he is a fantastic cardinal with exceptional character!
Our Menchaca Staff Spotlight is Monica Combee. Mrs. Combee is one of our Kinder teachers who always goes above and beyond for our campus. SInce arriving to Menchaca she has been a welcome addition and hit the ground running. Mrs. Combee leads our campus activities committee, where their Grandparent’s Day event was a huge success. She shines day in and out of her classroom, by providing a learning environment where all her students excel in their learning and her willingness to always lend a helping hand to any staff member in need. Mrs. Combee, we are so happy that you are a part of our Menchaca Family!

Cardinal Spotlight Recognizes Kash Puga & Dawn Vontur
In the bustling hallways of our school during transition times, one student stands out as a shining example of respect and responsibility. Kash Puga had a class job to be the caboose. He was walking in the hallway with his quiet sign up the entire distance from the cafeteria to his classroom, even after a friend skipped and jumped in front of him. In his actions, Kash embodies the spirit of camaraderie and consideration that makes our school community a better place.
Kindergarten teacher Dawn Vontur is an inspiring force within our school, not only for her young students but also for the entire staff. Every week, Mrs. Vontur takes time to send out reminders to staff and then collects heartfelt “shout outs” from her colleagues. This weekly kindness sharing peers’ words of appreciation and recognition for their hard work and dedication never fails to uplift our spirits. Whether it’s celebrating a colleague’s innovative teaching methods, their support during challenging times, or simply their infectious enthusiasm for education, Mrs. Vontur’s shout outs foster a sense of unity and motivation among us. Her genuine and consistent encouragement reminds us all of the impact we can have on each other and our students, making her a true beacon of inspiration within our school community.
