MECC in SISD is Using Smart Technology to Help Keep Students Healthy & Help Stop the Spread of COVID-19 & the Flu
Families will receive Kinsa smart thermometers for early detection and containment of contagious illnesses in the classroom
San Antonio, TX — Amidst an unprecedented school year, Menchaca Early Childhood Center in Bexar County hopes to stay one step ahead of illness, helping to stop the spread and keeping more kids healthy with the help of Kinsa smart thermometers. As one of the schools accepted into the Lysol + Kinsa FLUency health program, all Menchaca Early Childhood Center families will receive free Kinsa smart thermometers, which retail for $24.99, and will be able to see aggregate, anonymous information on any symptoms and illnesses going around the school.
“This school year is unlike any other, as our nation continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic and its widespread impact,” said Inder Singh, Kinsa founder and CEO. “Never has the need for real-time insights been greater, empowering schools to make data-driven decisions to keep their students healthy and learning. We’re excited to work with Lysol again to bring the free FLUency program to thousands of schools to help provide these insights.”
“We’ve long been committed to the wellbeing of children and keeping schools healthy, which is why we’re thrilled to once again support Kinsa’s FLUency program under the Lysol HERE for Healthy Schools campaign — especially as it’s needed now more than ever,” said Chris Tedesco, GM US Marketing, Hygiene, RB. “Participating families will receive the Kinsa smart thermometer and Lysol Disinfecting Wipes to help them track illness, get better faster, and help stop the spread.”
“The health and wellbeing of our students and teachers is our top priority, while continuing to support learning and education,” explained Principal Rebecca Delgado-Herrera. “We are grateful to be part of this innovative program, giving us a look at the trends affecting our classrooms.”
The FLUency program, now in its sixth year, will help nearly 350,000 families this year across almost 4,000 schools in the U.S. and Canada. Click here to watch a video of FLUency in action.
About Kinsa
Kinsa’s mission is to help individuals and communities stop the spread of infectious illness. To achieve this mission, Kinsa has built a communication network that connects more than a million users with a free app, email alerts, and the first device used when illness is suspected — a thermometer. Kinsa studies the unique features of an illness and incorporates what’s circulating nearby to offer personalized guidance from symptom onset through recovery. By analyzing geographic illness trends, Kinsa quickly identifies at-risk areas and mobilizes the organizations that can help stop the spread. Learn more: www.kinsahealth.com.

Dionysus Garcia
¡Felicidades, Dionysus!

Cardinal Spotlight Week of January 25th: Menchaca Early Childhood Center
Lilly Guzman is an outstanding Kindergarten student that always begins class with a contagious smile! Lilly is always willing to participate by sharing out her writing, sight words that she has learned, or simply what she did over the weekend. She never gives up and is always willing to try her absolute best. Lilly almost always submits her work promptly with such neat handwriting. Lilly – a BIG congratulations on being such a superstar student and our Cardinal of the Week! Keep shining, the world needs your light sweet girl.
Ms. Garcia is our bilingual general aide who goes above and beyond the call of duty. She always has a smile and is willing to do or fill in whenever and wherever necessary. When staff students were here doing their online learning she would graciously always assist, watch over, and care for them. Ms. Garcia loves our little cardinals like they are all her own and we are so happy to have her on our campus.
