Intramural Basketball has come to an end, but not without Heritage 4th and 5th grades bringing some hardware back. Both teams went into the Season Tournament seated in the lower seed. After some hard fought battles, both teams ended up in the 3rd Place game. The 4th graders, led by the quickness of Josiah Garza and Jacob Higareda, put a lot of pressure on the opposing team causing lots of havok. This, coupled with Xavier Moya’s sharp shooting, was a perfect recipe for a blow out win over Pearce’s 4th grade team. The 5th Graders took a tough first round loss, but bounced back with two big wins. The Championship game was a tough-fought battle between two evenly matched teams. The first half was led by the quickness of Jenevieve Anguiano and tough defense of Dannie Monroy to keep Heritage in the game. The second half was the difference maker where Jaden Sutton and Serenity Roman put on one of the more physical halves of the season. They held Pearce to zero points in the second half. Serenity was a rebounding machine, grabbing six rebounds in the second half. Caleb Traegar then rallied the team together and put on a clinic of offensive driving and slashing the lane to the basket to push ahead of Pearce, for the victory; capturing Heritage’s second trophy of the Tournament. It was an exciting tournament and all students worked together for the big wins. We are so proud of these young athletes and know they have bright futures ahead!
