Southside science students discuss International Space Station Mission 11

Southside High School students (Neco Jimenez, Carlos Gonzalez, and Lydia Araujo) who sent an experiment up on the International Space Station (Mission 11) were invited for a podcast at UTSA. Dr. Karl Klose, professor at the South Texas Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases hosted the event. It was sponsored by the American Society of Microbiologists. The experiment was to look at possible effects of microgravity on Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, the fungus that is killing amphibians world-wide. The experiment is already back from space and will be analyzed with the assistance of Dr. Claeys, Dr. Barea, and Dr. Soo Chan Lee at UTSA.

The Podcast aired February 2018. Congrats Cardinals!
