Cardinals Advance to Regionals with Varsity Girls Securing Back-to-Back District Titles

Our Southside High School Cardinals showcased incredible determination and skill at the District 28-5A Cross Country Meet this week. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and perseverance throughout this season. For the second year in a row, our Varsity Girls have claimed the 28-5A District Championship, and for the first time, we’re sending a gentleman to Regionals!
The following athletes will be representing Southside at the Regionals in Corpus Christi on October 19th and competing on October 20th:
Kalub Flores, Emarald Aguirre, Serenity Williams, Bethany Iniguez Morales, Itzel Chavez, Ariana Carreon, Kimberly Rubio, and Sofia Flores.

Fast, Fierce, and Focused: Cardinals Dominate the Track

Coach Selena Ramirez and the Southside High School Track & Field team wrapped up an incredible season, showcasing strength, speed, and dedication! A total of 11 student-athletes advanced to the Area meet, with 6 continuing on to compete at Regionals. Their hard work, determination, and Cardinal pride were on full display all season long—congratulations to our athletes and coaches for a job well done!

Emarld Aguirre: Southside Freshman Claims Athlete of the Week After Sweeping District Titles

Congratulations to Southside High School freshman Emarald Aguirre for being named the San Antonio Express-News Athlete of the Week! Emarald delivered an outstanding performance at the District 27/28-5A Area Championships, claiming first place in all three of her events: the 800-meter run (2:22.68), the 1,600-meter run (5:27.10), and the 3,200-meter run (11:40.18). An incredible achievement—way to go, Emarald!
