(San Antonio, TX) – The 8th Annual District-wide Spanish Spelling Bee was a smashing success. The contest was held by the SISD Bilingual Services Department, The winners are all SISTERS. The students thoroughly battled it out for each division. All the contestants deserve a round of applause for their hard work. The middle school finalists went for a record-breaking 22 rounds. In each category, the Agis sisters won! This is the first time that three sisters have won in this event. “The Agis sisters executed an extraordinary performance, sweeping the competition with three first-place finishes in their respective grade level bands—an outstanding accomplishment!” said Melissa Martinez, Director of Bilingual Services.
The Bilingual Department wanted to take a moment to extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their hard work in making Spanish Spelling Bee a success. The enthusiasm and energy at this year’s event were truly electrifying, and it exceeded our expectations once again.
Here are the 8th annual Spanish Spelling Bee winners:
Elementary School: 1st Place – Sara Agis (Gallaro) 2nd Place – Luis Aguillon Martinez (Freedom) 3rd Place – Ivanna Murillo-Orzua (Heritage)
Middle School: 1st Place – Frida Agis (Losoya) 2nd Place – Alexandra Hernandez (Losoya) 3rd Place – Mia Ruiz (Matthey)
High School: 1st Place – America Agis (10th grade) 2nd Place – Bethany Iniguez-Morales (10th Grade) 3rd Place – Reyna Romero Palominos (12th Grade)
