New School Year begins with excitement, energy, and record-breaking enrollment at Southside ISD

Felix Flores, Lucciano Flores Moreno, 3, Addy Moreno Soto, and Giovanni Flores Moreno, 4, pose outside Menchaca Early Childhood Center on the first day of school. The boys are new enrollees to the fast-growing district.

Parents dropped off students on Monday, August 14th with blessings, good-byes, and “I love you.” As school bells rang at Southside ISD’s eight campuses every student became a part of history. Never before have so many students enrolled in Southside ISD. For the first time in the fast-growing district’s history, enrollment has surpassed 6,000 students. “It’s an exciting time and we just want to give a warm welcome to each and every student,” said Superintendent of Schools Mr. Rolando Ramirez. Campus department teams fanned out across the district to help with student drop-off and pick-up. The district reminds parents that the first couple of weeks of every school year are a transition and within two weeks most everyone will know the routine.
