The 93rd Annual Texas Convention was held during the week of July 5-9 in Fort Worth Texas.  During this week long convention Members from Southside FFA and from around the state participated in general sessions in which they got to listen to speakers, vote on State business, and enjoy the talent contest featuring the 12 best talent teams from around the state.  Members also took part in Leadership workshops and will bring back with them to their own chapters.

One of the most exciting events during this week is the Texas FFA Rodeo.  This is where FFA members from around the state compete in select rodeo events which include barrel racing, team and calf roping, steer wrestling, and even bull riding.  Southside FFA’s very own Renee Maspero, who is a 2021 Graduate, was one of the contestants in the barrel racing.  This event consists of two runs with the top 10 advancing to the finals.  Renee had very fast runs in her first two runs holding the 9th place in both rounds.  She also had a very strong fast run in the finals and was able to hold onto her 9th place standing overall, out of 82 participants.  With this finish, she also qualified for the Junior National Finals Rodeo Next Summer.  Southside ISD and Southside FFA want to congratulate Renee on her success and representing Southside so well and wish her all the luck next summer at the Junior National Finals next summer and in all of her future endeavours.
