Southside ISD conducted two Mission Patch competitions in support of our winning Student Spaceflight Experiments Program finalists. The SSEP is a program that allows for the winning students’ experiment to be flown by NASA to the International Space Station for The competitions were open to students in kindergarten – 8 grade and grades 9 – grade 12, with campus winners be selected by campus art teachers. 169 students submitted patch designs in the K – 8 competition and 255 submissions came from the high school. The total for Southside ISD was 424 students. Winning patches were submitted by Pearl Huizar (12th Grade) and Iven Lee Garcia (8th Grade).
