Menchaca Librarian, Mrs. Christine Lopez, has once again enabled Menchaca to adopt a live calf growing up on a dairy farm for students to learn about and follow how she is cared for and how milk is produced. With live video chats, photos, activities, certificates, and more, the program gives our students a deeper understanding of the dairy industry as they watch our cow grow throughout the school year. The Dairy Education Program says, “Our goal is to bring the farm to the classroom and inspire students to want to learn about dairy. We want them to grow up to be educated consumers and really understand what dairy is all about.”
Our calf is a heifer named Baby who was born on September 24, 2021 at Rottinghaus Holsteins Farm. She is a Holstein dairy cow who was born weighing 98 lbs. and was 32.25 inches tall.
