These updates are to inform SISD employees during the COVID 19 Public Health Pandemic. SISD will aim to give all employees the latest information as it becomes available.

As Texas and the nation continue to deal with the impact of COVID-19, we want to share with you how SISD is responding to the changes demanded by public health best practices. Southside ISD’s top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff.

Southside ISD’s Response to the COVID 19 Public Health Pandemic:
  • Superintendent Mark Eads, TEA and Leadership have been in communication since the outbreak following public health expert guidelines.
  • Schools are currently closed through March 20th.
  • March 16th, Leadership for SISD met to discuss education for students during the COVID 19 pandemic.
    • Precautions are being made to follow guidelines during all meetings:
      • DO NOT SHAKE HANDS
      • PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING
      • WASH HANDS AND USE HAND SANITIZER
    • Updates on possible extended closures and/or the opening of schools will be communicated as information becomes available.
    • The Academic Services Division Leadership met today and is in the process of developing Learning options for students PK-12 grade while we have school closure. The documents will be available (High tech - computer-based, and low tech - paper and pen-based) early next week, should the closure extend after this week.
    • Texas Education Agency waived STARR Test.
    • Meals will continue to be available via curbside during the closures at Heritage and SHS.
    • Child Nutrition workers are part of the front line of our service during this public health crisis. They will continue to report to work to make and provide meals for all of our students.
    • Custodians and Maintenance reported today to help with cleaning and sanitizing building.
    • Hourly employees who had to report to work today and last week will get compensated appropriately.
While schools are closed All Southside ISD Employees will continue to get paid.

  • If you have pending questions about your status, leave or other HR matters please contact the HR team directly.
Other News Affecting US:
  • Governor Greg Abbott and Commissioner Mike Morath announced that there will be no STAAR Testing for this school year . The Texas Tribune - NO STAAR . Click here for more from the TEA.
  • There will be no State Accountability Label this year, therefore schools will enter next year with an NR, or Not Rated label.
