Freedom Elementary third grade student, M’Ckenzy Poses has taken the term distance learning to a new level. She truly has been learning from afar.. Her mother, Cassey Hickey, tells us, “This year we decided with the way school is being conducted and the fact that her dad is able to travel with his job that we would do so as a family. We wanted to be able to keep our kids in school in TX and virtual learning allowed us to do that. Being in Oregon, M’Ckenzy gets up at 5:15 in the morning to start school in Texas. My son logs out of school at 9am and M’Ckenzy is done at 11:30am. She finishes whatever school work she has left for the day and has the rest of the day to play outside or spend time with her siblings. We take M’Ckenzy and her siblings out on the weekends to explore the outdoors here in Oregon.” M’Ckenzy tells us, “I love it because I get to travel with my family and see new things that we don’t see in San Antonio.” Her teacher, Ms. Arellano is proud of how well M’Ckenzy is doing with virtual learning. Ms. Arellano says, “She is always logged in on time and eager to participate with our class. We look forward to seeing her everyday. Her classmates think it’s the “coolest thing ever” to have a classmate joining them each day from all the way across the country!”
