The Matthey MS Symphonic band earned a Sweepstakes rating, the highest rating, at their UIL Concert and Sight-reading Evaluation. A sweepstake is a First Division rating from the six judges evaluating the group. Southside ISD is proud of our 2020 SHS Varsity Boys Basketball team. For the first time in Cardinal History, the team took us to the Region IV Regional Quarter Finals March 3rd. They played their hearts out in front of a packed Northside Sports Gym against Harlan HS. Although they lost 75-67, the Southside team held a close game throughout the second half. Thank you for the nailbiter of a game! Go Cardinal!

Hundreds of employees, students and alumni are expected to attend the 20th-anniversary celebration March 5th at Heritage Elementary. Former principals will be on hand to say "Hello." Heritage was the first "new" building in the school district's modern era to be built after the new millennium and a sign of the growing area.
