On March 27th, the Southside HS Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Gamez, competed at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Competition at Southwest High School. The Symphonic Band earned a Division 1 rating in both rooms earning a “Sweepstakes” honor and award (highest achievement possible). On Thursday, March 27th, the Southside High School Varsity Wind Ensemble band performed in UIL concert and sight reading assessment. The band earned a "1st division: superior" rating from each judge, completing the year-long quest for the varsity "sweepstakes" award (with earning the superior rating in fall 2023 marching band).
