Cardinal Spotlight – Mrs. Rodriguez and Markus Davis
This week’s Southside HS Cardinal Spotlight is on Mrs. Lesa B. Rodriguez and Junior Markus Davis. Mrs. Rodriguez and Markus have worked together since Markus was in the 3rd grade. They can often be spotted walking to classes across campus. Mrs. Rodriguez supports Markus through his day. This is Mrs. Rodriguez’s 19th year at Southside. She looks forward to coming to school everyday because she “works with amazing, caring, and devoted teachers.” When she is not at school, she enjoys
reading, riding her bike, and watching Walt Disney movies. Her favorite food is fried chicken with french fries and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Mrs. Rodriguez loves her job and her community, “as long as I have breath in me, I will be here for years to come.”

Cardinal Spotlight – Mr. Esau Dominguez
I’ve been working with Dual Language high school students for the past 3 years and have enjoyed each and every year. The Dual Language program is like a small family, the students have known and shared classrooms since elementary school. It amazes me how well they collaborate amongst themselves in both academic and social settings. I think it’s important for students to learn in their native language when given the opportunity; it helps them retain their culture and language. Most importantly they will be effective bilingual readers, speakers and writers giving them an advantage in higher education and the workplace.

Sr. Esau Dominguez

As a first year member of the Cardinal family, Coach Christa Carrasco led our softball team to a playoff appearance. Coach Carrasco supports our student athletes by demonstrating the core values of hard work and teamwork. We thank you for your compassion and dedication to helping our students reach their maximal potential.
Our amazing Senior Cardinal Joseph Castaneda demonstrates his leadership skills by prioritizing school work and making memories during his high school journey. He has been a member of the Cardinal football team, cheer squad, and as a class sponsor. He believes every future Cardinal should follow their dream and make them happen and be optimistic while overcoming the hills and valleys of their journey. We are very proud to have Joseph as part of our Cardinal family.
