2020 – 2021 STAAR Testing Dates

What is STAAR?

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) program, which was implemented in spring 2012, includes annual assessments for reading and mathematics, grades 3–8, writing at grades 4 and 7, science at grades 5 and 8, social studies at grade 8, end-of-course (EOC) assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and U.S History.

2020-2021 STAAR Testing Schedule:
Testing dates are for online testing, paper/pencil dates may differ. 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: 
STAAR – WRITING Grade 4 April 06, 2021
STAAR – MATHEMATICS Grades 3, 4 & 5 May  11, 2021
STAAR – READING Grades 3, 4, & 5 May  12, 2021 
STAAR – SCIENCE Grade 5  May  13, 2021

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

Mask Requirement to Stay in Place for All Southside ISD Staff & Students

Southside ISD will continue with masks, social distancing, and all of the safety protocols that we have in place. Nothing has changed for our school district.  On March 2, Gov. Greb Abbott announced lifting the mask mandate in Texas in an Executive Order A-34 which addresses the statewide wearing of face coverings (i.e., masks) and takes effect March 10, 2021. TEA’s authority to implement operational requirements for public schools remains in effect (e.g., TEA’s Public Health Guidance).

As a result of the lifting of the order on masks, TEA has updated its Public Health Guidance. Under this updated guidance, a public school system’s current practices on masks may continue unchanged. Local school boards have full authority to determine their local mask policy.

Superintendent Rolando Ramirez says “we will continue with masks, social distancing, and all of the safety protocols that we have in place. Nothing has changed for our school district.”

SENIOR Picture RETAKES– March 24th

Cap/Gown and Tux/Drape

You will not be able to walk-in for the photo session. Information is available as well on your school email.  CLICK HERE to sign up for March 24th.

Garments (Cap/Gown and Tux/Drape) will be provided and steam cleaned and sanitized with disinfectant after each use.  Photographers will be socially distanced about 10 ft away.  Restrooms and mirrors will be available. Please make sure you show up to the Auditorium 5-10 minutes before your time slot.

Southside FFA students continue to compete and excel at Livestock and Rodeo Shows.  CONGRATULATIONS to all of our competitors and keep up the great work.  You make Southside PROUD.

This website provides information on our current FFA events and projects developing throughout the Ag program here in Southside ISD! It also includes an event calendar, information on our agricultural classes is available, our Doing to Learn programs, monthly FFA newsletters, fundraiser opportunities,and so much more!!

Not only that, we have included an FFA Interest Form you can direct your students to that are interested in becoming an FFA member. As soon as they submit the form we will personally contact them to tell them about our program. Southside High School Culinary students are AMAZING. Under the guidance of Chef Machado, the students were able to share their culinary skills with all district staff members creating a sweet treat in honor of Valentine’s Day.
