SENIORS stop by the GO CENTER December 15th during OPEN HOUSE for assistance!!!!
In the spirit of service within the Southside community, SHS Law volunteered at the Blue Cardinals Caring For Cardinals Event! The Practicum in Law Seniors donated four Thanksgiving baskets to include a frozen turkey, sides, a pie a gallon of tea, and more
We are incredibly proud of our LAW students and their eagerness to serve. They are passionate and motivated to do great things! On Saturday, Dec. 4th they volunteered at Texas Department of Public Safety directing traffic, greeting the community, and were able to network with SAPD Chief McManis, BCSO Sheriff Salazar and many others!
November 13th, Diego Muniz and Maximus Polendo, both sophomore Welding 1 students, attended the Texas High School Welding Series welding competition that was held on the Texas State campus. They took advantage of the opportunity to compete for scholarships and prizes. This is the first welding competition Southside High School welding has attended within the past three years. Diego and Max practiced for the competition one week prior to learn a few welding positions they had not yet learned. Diego and Maximus competed in different skills challenges such as part of a virtual reality welding competition; a tool identification quiz, and underwater welding contest. Both Diego and Max represented Southside High School with honor and pride. Not only did they have a great time competing, they also learned the true meaning behind these contests, which is teamwork and camaraderie between the different schools and competitors. Out of the 171 students that competed, Maximus Polendo won a new pair of work boots through the “Boot’em Up” program.
We are proud of these two welding 1 students for their desire to step outside their comfort zones into competition as they continue to grow their welding skills.
On December 4th, 23 members of the Southside High School Mighty Cardinal Band traveled to Medina Valley and competed against the top band students from surrounding schools in the TMEA region 11 honor band contest. ALL 23 students came home with honors, including 9 students making band 2 and 10 students making band 1. Of these, 7 students will continue on to the area level audition in January for a chance at making the all state band.
Help us congratulate these hard working students on their outstanding achievement!
