Pre-K/Kindergarten Roundup for students ages 3, 4, and 5

Parents throughout San Antonio can now enroll new students,  ages three, four, and five, at the Southside ISD Pre-K/Kindergarten Roundup at Menchaca Early Childhood Center located at 16180 U.S. Highway 281 South. Menchaca ECC is the newest campus in Southside ISD combining proven learning strategies and technology. This is only for new students registering for the 2022-2023 school year.

The Pre-K/Kindergarten Roundup is happening:

  • May 24 & 26 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Please bring the following documents:

  • Student’s birth certificate
  • Proof of Income (check stub, federal tax copy, etc.)
  • Vaccination record
  • Student’s Social Security Card
  • ID card of Parent/Guardian  (i.e. Driver License, green card, Texas ID)
  • Custody/guardianship paperwork (if applicable)
  • Withdrawal form (if applicable)
  • Last report card (if applicable)
  • Special Programs records (i.e. ARD, FIE, IEP, 504, dyslexia, EB, etc. if applicable)
  • Proof of Residency (i.e. utility bill, lease, tax bill, connection receipt)

COVID Vaccination Clinic (12 years & up) & Pre-K and K Registration

The Southside Independent School District is hosting a vaccine clinic targeting anyone 12 and older. This clinic is happening as the Centers for Disease Control finds increased hospitalizations for people 12 to 17 and reinforces the need for COVID vaccinations.
Monday, June 7, Menchaca Early Childhood Center, 16180 U.S. Highway 281 South, 8 am to Noon, walk-up vaccine clinic. The American Heart Association offers fun cooking demonstrations, discount coupons for food, and you can register your children to attend Pre-K and Kindergarten. 

Prek-Kinder Registration Event – May 19, 2021

Southside ISD, Menchaca Early Childhood Center (MECC) is hosting an in-person Pre-K/Kinder Registration Event on Wednesday, May 19, 2021! Our goal is to fill up every seat at MECC with a scholar, your child. Registration will continue until the school is at capacity.   

Parents will have the opportunity to tour the facility, speak with teachers and district leadership.  MECC boasts several programs, from music programs to highly acclaimed dual language and bilingual programs for our scholars. 

If you would like to register in-person, in observance of social distancing, we ask parents to wear masks (required), and please be mindful of keeping 6ft social distance when possible. The event will be limited to guardians and the student only. To further practice social distancing measures, we encourage parents to complete the registration packet before the event. 

Please Note: All parents will have to go through a financial eligibility application process to determine if their family is eligible for financial support and tuition assistance for PreK only.
