This one week camp will have two LIVE code along sessions and one LIVE debug session. You’ll then be able to get creative and make the project your own. Submit your project for a chance to win Spurs Give and Youth Code Jam swag! For this camp activity, you’ll be using Scratch, a visual programming language, to create something fun. Registration opens June 27th and closes on July 29th at 11:59pm. This event is open to K-12 students.

Join Spurs Give for Their 2022 Summer Reading Challenge!
Our Spurs Give Summer Reading Challenge is a fantastic way to continue to train your brain throughout the summer. Designed for San Antonio Students in the South Texas Region from Kindergarten to 8th grade, this program allows for students to keep track of their reading minutes from June 13th through August 8th for a chance to win prizes!
Not only will the top three students with the most minutes read win prizes but we will also host a reading corner to keep our students motivated and sharp!

New Southside Tradition: Lighting of the S Unites the Cardinal Community
The Southside ISD’s first Lighting of the S celebration turned into a large-scale and successful community event. Student groups from every campus marched in a parade that wound its way into Southside Stadium. Family and friends filled the home-side and cheered on the students. For their part, students waved to the cheering crowd and soaked up the excitement. The entire purpose of the Lighting of the S and parade was to showcase our students, highlight their accolades, and bring in the community. “Everyone from students, staff, and the community thoroughly enjoyed this event,” said Superintendent Mr. Rolando Ramirez. The night ended when the Southside High School Senior Class of 2022 took to the field and watched the S light up while the Mighty Cardinal Band played the Alma Mater. “One faculty member told me this should have happened years ago,” said Mr. Ramirez. The Lighting of the S is on the books to become an annual tradition at Southside ISD. Click here to see pictures.
Free High-Speed Internet for Southside ISD Families
Operation Connectivity was formed in May of 2020 as a joint effort between Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Legislature, the Texas Education Agency (TEA), DISD, and ESC Region 4. The purpose of this joint effort is to connect Texas’s 5.5 million public school students with an e-learning device and reliable internet connection sufficient for learning. Southside ISD is partnering with TEA Connect for eligible families to receive FREE High-Speed Internet at home. Cardinal nation your child and family may qualify for no-cost, high-speed internet through TEACT.

San Antonio Northwest Lions Club Donates Time to Menchaca ECC
The San Antonio Northwest Lions Club donated their time on Saturday, August 28th to put together equipment for our students.
