Cardinal Spotlight

June 1, 2020 by melaniemorgan

Each week, a student and a staff member are selected to be in the Superintendent’s Cardinal Spotlight. This is a chance to recognize those students and staff members who go above and beyond. They show exemplary character, put forth great effort, or positively and selflessly serve those around them. We are so thankful that our superintendent, Mr. Ramirez, provides such recognition for the amazing family members of Southside ISD. To see who has been the Menchaca Early Childhood Center Student or Staff of the Week, click HERE. You can even look back to learn more about those recognized in past weeks.

The attached information is for Menchaca families regarding the information to retrieve student belongings and previously purchased school pictures. The times are divided by last name to help us streamline the almost 800 students we have. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. There will be only one way in and one way out to allow us to make it easier for all of you to obtain your students’ things. Thank you so much for your understanding, patience, cooperation, and support this year. It was definitely a school year like no other!

We added 5/26, 5/28, and 6/2 from 9 am – 11 am. Let your child’s teacher know so we can have your child’s things ready when you arrive!

Together in Spirit: Staying Connected During COVID-19

April 23, 2020 by melaniemorgan

We’ve started to notice something interesting lately: our current conditions of social distancing have actually brought us closer to some of the people in our life. Families are working, learning, and playing at home together. People are calling family and friends just to check up on them. Neighbors are waving to one another from a distance, just to have some form of human contact.

Even though we aren’t able to gather physically, we will keep looking for ways to connect with each other. Here are some ways we are staying connected with our little Cardinals.

Facebook – please follow our Facebook page. We post DAILY lessons, pictures of students, messages from teachers, a nightly storytime, free resources, and more. We VALUE and LOVE our Menchaca families. Even if you avoid social media, connect for the short term so we can stay connected to you. Follow our page for the latest, up-to-date information.

MECC Virtual Learning – We post all of our virtual lessons here. If you started with packets and want to go back to previous weeks, you can! We have this up so our little Cardinals can continue learning. You don’t have to learn only on the dates they were posted. This is meant to help you help your children. We use videos, interactive resources, and more to keep this as accessible as possible. We have our instructional packets available for you to access here, too.
