The TEA Connect Texas Program

Operation Connectivity was formed in May of 2020 as a joint effort between Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Legislature, the Texas Education Agency (TEA), DISD and ESC Region 4 to connect Texas’s 5.5 million public school students with an e-learning device and reliable internet connection sufficient for learning. Matthey Students Have A Future In Journalism!

Whether it’s a book review or an article about other cultures, our students enjoy diving into the world journalism. Lalani Sauceda and Amity Harwell are two eight graders who share the same passion of researching and writing. They generate inspiration from the world around them and love telling stories.

Mr. Hendrick is their journalism teacher and plays a significant role in advancing their skills as journalist. Hendrick has a background working in newspaper as well as experience as a yearbook photographer. His passion for our students, along with his knowledge in this field, helps set up promising futures for students like Lalani and Amity.

Technology Expectations

Per Technology Department:
– If a device is lost or stolen, a police report from our district police is required before another device is issued.
– If a device has physical damage, cracked screen or missing keys, a $50.00 fee will be charged before another device is assigned.
– If a power supply cord/charger is lost or damaged, the replacement fee is $40.
   * Payments can be made on campus. We accept cash, checks and money orders.
   * Please make checks and money orders to Southside ISD.
