The Cardinal Spotlight for the week is Mr. Bradley Mount. Mr. Mount has been at Southside ISD for the last eight years and has served as a special education teacher, AVID teacher and instructional coach. He currently serves as the instructional coach for Science and Social Studies. His passion is improving instruction and creating uniform systems for instruction. He is credited for introducing the Cardinal PRIDE phrase to Matthey. We are fortunate to have Mr. Mount on our campus.
Luke Wright, is our Matthey cardinal spotlight. Luke is an 8th grade captain on the football team. He is also a member of the J.L. Matthey jazz ensemble. He is an extremely hard worker. He is a player the coaches look forward to leading the Cardinal teams in the future. He is respectful, honest and dedicated to his education and extra curricular activities. In addition, Mr. Garcia the Matthey Band Director states that Luke is a self motivated responsible student. He is always striving to do his best and meet the high expectations of both the Band and Athletic program.

The Cardinal spotlight for the week is Mrs. Alma Dominguez. Mrs. Dominguez is the cafeteria manager for Matthey Middle School. She works diligently to ensure that all our students receive nutritious meals and they all take advantage of these meals. The participation rate for our meal program is always being recognized by our Child Nutrition Program. Mrs. Dominguez is also a proud community member and a parent of several Southside ISD students.
The Cardinal Spotlight for the week is Jesus Morales. Jesus is an eighth grader at Matthey Middle School. He is enrolled in PreAP classes and several high school credit courses. He is a captain of the football team and a member of the Matthey Cardinal Announcement team. He definitely has Cardinal PRIDE and we are looking forward to seeing him excel in high school.

Giovanni Fernandez is a seventh grade student at Matthey Middle School. He has shown great effort and improvement in behavior and academics. He has also excelled on the football field. We are extremely proud of the strides this young man has made in becoming a better student. We are looking forward to great things from this young man.
The cardinal spotlight for the week is Mrs. Sanchez. This is her first year at Matthey MS and she is part of our dynamic duo of eighth grade science teachers. She provides engaging lessons for all her students and has been a great addition to our team. Mrs. Sanchez has also taken on the role of GT coordinator for Matrhey and will coordinate our STEAM and science fair entries.
