Undefeated and Unstoppable: Girls Soccer Clinches Zone Championship

This season, Coach Jacobs led the Julius L. Matthey Middle School 8th Grade Girls Soccer Team to an extraordinary accomplishment: an undefeated season with a perfect 6-0 record – and finishing the season as Zone Champs!  The dedication, teamwork, and resilience shown by these athletes on and off the field have been nothing short of inspiring.  Each player brought their unique strengths, and together, they formed an unstoppable force.  From thrilling goals to solid defense, every moment reflected their hard work and passion for the game.  Hats off to Coach Jacobs and the Matthey 8th Grade Girls Soccer Team for becoming the first girls soccer team in the school’s 16 year history to achieve an undefeated season! 👏 GO LADY CARDS! 🌟

Matthey Cardinal Spotlight of the Week

The Matthey MS Student Cardinal Spotlight goes to our 8th grader Tristan Abrego. TJ as he is known by his friends and family was the starting quarterback of our zone champion 8th grade football team.  TJ is a great student athlete.  He is a role model student who always strives to lead by example.  We look forward to great things from TJ in the near future.
The Matthey MS Staff Cardinal Spotlight is coach Robert Mayberry.  Coach Mayberry has served the Southside community for over 10 years.  He currently serves as our ISS teacher and 8th grade football head coach.  Under his tutelage our 8th grade boys captured a zone championship and claimed an undefeated season in zone play.  He helps mold these young men into champions on and off the field.  Thank you Coach Mayberry for your service to our community.
