Internet Service Provider Discounts for Families in Southside

Please read this message about getting a discount from your internet service provider:

You may qualify for a monthly discount of $30 off your internet bill since your child receives free lunch at Southside ISD. Southside ISD is a Community Eligibility Provision school (free lunch for all) which makes you eligible for this discount. Follow these simple steps to complete the process
2. You may be asked to provide additional documentation to verify enrollment (registration form, report card, etc) and Southside ISD’s participation in the CEP program.
3. Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email approving/denying your application.
4. Once approved, call your internet provider and provide your application ID number to start getting the discount applied to your wireless account.
**If approved, you will have to recertify annually.

Losoya announces 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year!

Jason Garcia, a long time Science teacher and coach, has received the honor of Losoya’s Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Garcia has been with Losoya since we were a 5th and 6th grade Intermediate Campus.  He has a quiet and humble demeanor, always willing to help both teachers and students alike.  Back in the day…. he taught robotics, handling a club that spread its Lego Robots across the old Losoya Library after school.  He spent many extra hours to encourage the STEAM initiative, not because it was mandated, but because he believed in it.  Mr. Garcia was certainly surprised by the announcement this week – but to many Losoya oldies – we say well, it is his turn and his time.  We just have so many talented teachers on this campus that it is difficult to make these tough decisions.  Congratulations, Mr. Garcia, to a well-deserved honor.

National Junior Honor Society Gives Back!

National Junior Honor Society helps behind the scenes. We love our NJHS – moving and helping in their quiet humble ways. Under the sponsorship of Mr. Knox, these future community leaders are doing so much good. Mr. Knox will be taking a group of these amazing kiddos to help setup and decorate for the city-wide Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner. We are thankful for these amazing kiddos and their sponsor.

Losoya celebrates Thanksgiving. We are thankful for all of our amazing teachers and the hard work they do each day for our kids. We are thankful for our Principal, Mrs. Blackmon, for her never-ending support and heart for teachers, and for all of our administrators and leaders who day to day support teaching. Special thank you to Mr. Moreno and Coach Gutierrez for the yummy food and treats that allowed us all to give thanks yesterday at our Losoya Luncheon. WE LOVE OUR LOSOYA FAMILY!
