Learn New Things!
Live Spanish Translation Available!
Spread the word! Parents are invited to a workshop just for them at the Heritage Elementary Library. Southside ISD and Heritage provide many wonderful sources of information, entertainment and reading pleasure. This workshop will inform everyone about these subscription services and how to use them.
Learning to find, evaluate and use information is a Life Skill that can give you an advantage for the rest of your life! Share and practice these information skills with your family!
Some of our teachers have volunteered to watch your children while you attend the workshop so you can fully focus on what you’re learning. Hands-on experience will help get you on the road to digital information. Bring your own tablet, laptop or smart phone (be sure it’s charged-up!) or use one provided.
We hope that parents who need translation will feel free to attend! Live translation will be available.
This will be a fun, informative event for Heritage parents. See you there!!
Our halls are decorated, our copies are made, our teaching aids are laminated and cut out and our events are always successful! No way would that be the case if we didn’t have our dedicated volunteers.
They are appreciated by the students as well. “They’re good parents that are here, like a teacher. Parent volunteers can do stuff so they don’t bother the teachers. The kids are glad they’re here!” ~Evan Tamez, 4th grade student
These pictures of the book fair decorations are examples of the volunteers’ dedication to excellence. There’s always room for more!! Please consider becoming a volunteer today!
PTO Family Night
Wednesday, September 30
You don’t want to miss the fourth grade choir’s performance of “The Legend of Betsy Ross” They will also sing “We Remember”, “This is My Country” and “This Land is Your Land” in celebration of our country, our constitution and American patriotism.
Heritage Honors First Responders
Heritage Elementary will honor all First Responders on Friday, September 11. Our local police, medics and firefighters are invited to come have breakfast, served by our student patrols.
Every class is making a Thank You poster, The posters will be displayed at the breakfast and at the ceremony to follow.
At 7:50, the SAPD Eagle 1 helicopter will be landing to the side of Heritage. What a treat!
Everyone has been practicing and learning “I’m Proud to be an American”. When we hold the ceremony by the flagpole at around 8:45, we will have a moment of silence, followed by singing this song.
Everyone in our community is encouraged to join us as we pay our respects to these brave men and women!
