This week we celebrate national school counseling week. We are excited to start the week by recognizing our phenomenal counselor: Nellie Wayson. In Mrs. Wayson’s first year at Gallardo, she has developed relationships with students, staff, and families, supported community initiatives, assisted in the planning of campus events, and so much more. Mrs. Wayson is a caring and compassionate leader who listens first to any and all she is with. She conducts monthly guidance lessons with all classes, facilitates peer conflicts, provides lunch munch counseling to small groups of students on various topics, and occasionally reads to students during lunch as a grade-level social-emotional learning assembly.
We are beyond appreciative to have a school counselor like Mrs. Wayson, who is dedicated to our students’ holistic success. She goes above and beyond every week to ensure our students have what they need, oversees our after-school enrichment activities, and is always available to support families with necessary resources. We are excited to kick off national school counseling week with a counselor who truly goes the extra mile in helping students dream big.
