Cinco De Mayo or the 5th of May is a celebration of the Battle of Puebla. The Mexican Army defeated the French on May 5, 1862. Mexico’s army was not large in number and did not have the best armory to fight but the French were defeated and this was a cause for celebration. The celebration was not because Mexico had gained its independence. This had already occurred 50 years before. It was because they fought a large army with outdated guns.
Folklorico dance goes way back. It is a dance that reflects traditions of different regions of Mexico. It is about culture and belief. The dance is an expression of life and the spirit of the people.
