Traffic Flow Change begins Monday October 17

October 17, 2016 by webmaster

Beginning Monday October 17, there will be new changes for pick up and drop off to accommodate the traffic flow and to provide more space for parents every day.

Freedom Elementary administration and the Southside ISD police department have made the following changes.

If you live West of Highway 37 you will follow the red arrow route.

If you live East of Highway 37 you will follow the blue arrow route.

  • Make sure that your child is seated on the side of your vehicle nearest to the curb so that they can exit safely where staff will be waiting.
  • Officer Cardenas will be directing traffic in the area where the buses exit behind the cafeteria area.
  • Drop off times will be at 7:00 a.m. when staff is on duty. Do not leave your child unattended. If this occurs it will be brought to your attention and further action may be taken.

These changes will be in effect MONDAY,  OCTOBER 17 2016.  Please follow the directions of the traffic flow so that you may enter and exit in a safe and efficient manner. Safety is a top priority and it is imperative that you drive slowly in and out of the staging areas.

Anti-Bully Week Was A Blast!

October 10, 2016 by webmaster

no-bully-zoneFreedom recently held it’s Anti-Bullying Week, and counselor, Brenda Barajas, did a great job getting everything together! Students participated in fun daily activities such as wearing their favorite team shirt to Team Up Against Bullying, wearing Super Hero Costumes to teach students to Be Heroes and Not Just Bystanders, and wearing Southside Cardinal colors red, white, and black to show that Cardinals are Against Bullying.

Each day, selected students read messages on the intercom to teach anti-bullying lessons, while selected PK or Kinder classes sang the “Buddy Song”.  Students also participated in a poster contest! Prizes were awarded to students who earned Buddy Tickets throughout the week, and for a grand finale, the poster contest winners were awarded prizes.  It was a great week!

Meet the Teacher

August 22, 2016 by schoolpress

Many Freedom families came out to Meet the Teacher Night on August 19th.  Students and parents were first introduced to the faculty and staff, and then were allowed to visit with their child’s teacher in the classroom.  It was a great success!  Welcome back to all of our Freedom students!
