Southside ISD Education Foundation Honors Top Campus Students
An initiative of both the Superintendent and the Southside ISD Education Foundation (SEF) is an incentive to honor outgoing students from each campus. This initiative has become a tradition for students, and they will each receive a computer as recognition for this academic achievement. The computers are purchased through fundraising efforts by SEF. Academic growth has been evident across all spectrums at SISD since this initiative was started.
During the May board meeting, Southside ISD recognized these students and gave them their new computers. Congratulations to each of these students for their continued hard work and dedication!

Student Success at Freedom
Freedom Elementary was able to open its door to host our 2022-2023 First Semester Awards for students. Freedom families and friends were able to come out and help us recognize our students’ achievements for the 1st semester. Awards for honor roll, attendance, character and so much more were given out. It was so great to see our families for this event and we look forward to more Freedom events coming up soon. The support of our students’ families plays a major role in the success of our students. We can not do this without you all. We thank you for all your support!
Freedom Elementary Teacher of the Year
This year Freedom Elementary selected 5th grade teacher, Ms. Crystal Dowell as our 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Dowell came to Freedom 5 years ago and started teaching 2nd grade. Last year, after the school year had already begun, we needed to move a teacher to 5th grade. Knowing it would be a challenge, Ms. Dowell volunteered to move up and take on this challenge. She has worked very hard and is now the lead teacher in 5th grade. Her peers share that Ms. Dowell is helpful, kind, knowledgeable, and overall a great team lead. Ms. Dowell has proven herself to be a caring, dedicated, and effective teacher. She builds strong relationships with her students, and has big goals for her kiddos. We are very proud to call her one of our amazing educators. Congratulations Ms. Dowell on being our 2022-2023 Freedom Elementary Teacher of the Year.
