A credit by examination (CBE) is a test the student completes to earn credit for a given course. Students who have received previous instructions must score a 70 or better in order to earn a credit. Students who have not had previous instruction will complete the test as an Exam for Acceleration, on which the student must score an 80 or better in order to earn credit.
Southside ISD offers Credit by Examination for acceleration at every grade level and subject area offered in accordance with Texas State Board of Education rules. A student is allowed to advance one grade level or one course per academic year. Southside ISD offers four Credit by Examination testing windows throughout the year.
