Nine Southside Independent School District teachers were honored at the Thursday evening school board meeting as Teachers of the Year . The Southside High School mariachi band served as entertainment during the February 4 SISD board of trustees meeting. The high school student’s representing grades 9-12th performed several songs, wowing the crowed room and setting a festive mood throughout the meeting.

The Southside SHAC voted and selected Guillermo's drawing as the district's winner. The committee liked that Guillermo's drawing captured the emotion of the super hero pineapple and broccoli going after the "bad food", in this case an ice cream cone whose only aim is to take your money!
