Southside's Freedom Elementary has a little secret, for about a year 4th grader, Yemila Tobias, has been conditioning, working hard, and training to fight. She is  4’11 1/2’’, 105 pounds and the State High School Champion for powerlifting in the 105 Weight Class. Southside High School junior, Marisol Munoz, 17, has been trailblazing in powerlifting with back-to-back competitions culminating in the State Finals Friday March 20th in Corpus Christi. The Southside Mighty Cardinal Band competed in their annual UIL Solo & Ensemble contest. The band had a total of 31 students who earned a 1st division rating earning a gold metal! Out of the 31 students the Cardinal Band had a total of 5 students who qualified to compete in the UIL State & Solo Contest. [...]

Students at Southside ISD’s Gallardo Elementary participated in a city-wide Heroes for Health event on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Congratulations to Perla Aguirre who earned 5th place at the State BPA Leadership Conference last weekend in Dallas Texas! She qualifies to compete at the National BPA Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California.  Also earning top ranking was Almira Torres, 10th place in Fundamental Accounting. Congrats Cardinals! Way to make us Southside Proud.
