Child Nutrition Department Statement
The Child Nutrition Department is responsible for the administration of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. School meal programs are available to all students and provide nutritious meals at a reasonable cost. Menus are prepared in accordance with federal guidelines. School meals are prepared and served on a non-profit basis with the assistance of federal funding. Eligible students may qualify for free or reduced price meals.
We at Child Nutrition understand that providing children nutritious and well balanced food helps children grow, develop, and do well in school. We are proud to support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition. Healthy eating is an important life skill.
The Child Nutrition Staff consists of approximately 60 employees who work to provide students a variety of diverse and appealing foods that contribute to the health and welfare of our students. We currently serve close to 5,100 lunches daily with menu planning emphasizing consideration of the United States Dietary Guidelines which include lowering the levels of fat, cholesterol, sodium and sugar in the diet.
